Company Profile   AusTides is an oceanographic consultancy specializing in tides and sea levels, with a wide spectrum of expertise in marine sciences and coastal engineering. AusTides was started in 2000 by myself, Dr John L Luick, following 8 years experience at the Australian National Tidal Facility (now the National Tidal Centre). Initially, the company operated under my name only. At NTF I worked on various projects involving tidal analysis, hydrodynamic modelling, and risk analysis for extreme events and flooding. I also ran workshops, wrote newsletters, and helped quality-control water level data, some of which are listed under the “Recent Projects” link on the AusTides home page. AusTides is comprised of myself, a technician, and several affiliate scientists and engineers. The affiliates are university-based experts in related disciplines such as surface waves, geochemistry, sediment transport, and marine ecology. Basically, if it is marine-related, AusTides probably has an expert it can call upon as a subcontractor. Most affiliates are employed in the university or government sectors or are recently retired. I operate from a home office, My affiliates are located around Australia. This structure enables AusTides to offer the services of top people and state of the art technologies at the most competitive prices in the industry.
